3D Scan Drone fixtures

3D Scan Drone fixtures

Shellharbour based CammPro was presented with a challenge by a drone pilot, who wanted to attach an air-sampling cylinder to his DJI Inspire 1 drone. But to do that, a custom fixture must be made as the original part was made for attaching cameras only.

Luckily, CammPro had a solution: replicate the original camera fixture and from that, CAD a new interface to specifically hold the air-sampling cylinder.

What better way to replicate the part than to 3D scan it? It’s a sure-fire way to get an identical copy, without the possibilities of incorrect measurements from human-error if it was done by hand.

To do this, CammPro used their EinScan Pro 3D scanner to capture the data with its 0.05mm dimensional accuracy.

The 3D scan is then imported into their latest CAD software and the modification begins here. The fixture was designed with being both aesthetically pleasing and functioning in mind, resulting the final product that looks like this:

Once the design is finalised all that’s left is to 3D print them and install it onto the drone for test flight…
